What actually survives on an office desk
Plenty of beautiful plants die within a month of reaching an office. Air conditioning strips humidity out of the air. Fluorescent panels are nothing like sunlight. Nobody waters anything over a long weekend. A desk plant has to be picked for those exact conditions, not for how it looks in a nursery.

Desk space is limited and usually shared with a laptop, a notebook and a water bottle. Pot size matters more here than in any other category.

Pot size guidance for desks
3 inch pots
Sits beside a monitor stand without competing for space. Best for pothos cuttings, small syngonium and young snake plants.
4 inch pots
The most ordered desk size. The plant looks established, the pot is stable enough not to tip when someone reaches past it.
5 inch and 6 inch pots
For floor corners beside a desk, or for a shared table in a pod of four. A 6 inch snake plant on the floor beside a workstation is a common and effective choice.
8 inch pots
Reception counters, manager cabins and shared meeting tables. Not a desk size, but frequently ordered alongside desk gifts to complete a floor.

Pot material for a working desk

Ceramic. Heavy enough to resist a knock from a passing elbow. The safest all round choice.
Self watering plastic. Holds a reservoir that buys the plant an extra week. Ideal when the recipient travels.
Metal. Slim profile, will not chip, and looks right in a modern office.
Terracotta. Breathable and forgiving if someone overwaters, which happens more often than under watering.
Bamboo fibre. Lightweight and sustainable. Best combined with a saucer to protect the desk surface.

Design variants that suit a workplace
Minimal white and matte solid finishes disappear into any desk setup, which is usually what you want. Geometric and embossed designs stand out more and suit creative teams. Logo branded pots put your mark on the front face, and hand painted designs work well for smaller premium orders where each piece can be slightly different.

Buying desk plants in bulk for a whole floor
The most common order in this category is one plant per employee across a department. Slab pricing starts at 30 units and everything from packaging to delivery is built around that pattern.

Practical points for a floor wide rollout

Mix the varieties. Ordering three or four different plants across the floor looks better than a uniform grid and costs the same.
Standardise the pot. Keep one pot design across the whole order so the floor looks intentional.
Deliver to the office, not to homes. For a floor rollout, one bulk delivery to reception is far simpler and cheaper than 80 individual parcels.
Add a saucer. Facilities teams appreciate this more than you would expect. It prevents water rings on desks.

Timelines
Plain pots dispatch in two to three working days. Logo printed pots need seven to ten working days after you approve the artwork mockup. For orders above 100 units we courier a physical sample first so nobody is surprised by the finish.

Keeping the plants alive after week one
Most office plants die from kindness rather than neglect. Somebody waters a snake plant every two days because it looks like the caring thing to do, and the roots rot. Our care card leads with that warning.

The three rules we print on every card

Push a finger two centimetres into the soil. If it feels damp, do not water.
Empty the saucer after watering. Standing water is the single biggest cause of root rot.
Turn the pot a quarter turn every fortnight so the plant grows evenly instead of leaning at the window.
