Air Plant Gifts
Air plant gifts skip soil entirely. Tillandsia pulls moisture and nutrients straight from the air, so the whole gift is a plant, a holder and nothing else. That makes air plants the lightest and cleanest corporate gift in this catalogue, and the easiest one to ship in large numbers.
What makes air plants different from every other plant gift
Most plant gifts arrive with soil, and soil creates problems. It adds weight, it spills in transit, and it invites the small flies that make office administrators nervous. Air plants remove all three problems at once. A tillandsia sits in a glass globe, a wooden stand or a ceramic cradle with nothing underneath it.
Care is equally simple. Once a week the recipient dunks the plant in water for about fifteen minutes, shakes off the excess, and puts it back. That is the entire routine. There is no repotting, no fertiliser schedule and no drainage tray to empty.
Why HR and admin teams keep picking air plants
No soil means no mess. Facilities teams stop objecting once they hear this.
Light shipping weight. A 500 unit air plant order costs noticeably less to freight than the same count in ceramic potted plants.
They look modern. A tillandsia in a geometric holder reads as design object rather than office plant.
Nothing dies over a long weekend. Air plants can go two weeks between soakings without visible stress.

Holder sizes, materials and design variants
Air plants do not sit in pots in the traditional sense. They sit in holders, and the holder does most of the visual work.
Holder size options
2 inch and 3 inch holders
Single ionantha or stricta in a small glass globe, ceramic cradle or wooden block. This is the volume gifting size and the one that fits inside onboarding boxes.
4 inch and 5 inch holders
Room for a larger caput medusae or bulbosa, often with a decorative sand or pebble base. Suits work anniversaries and client desks.
6 inch and 8 inch holders
Xerographica display pieces and multi plant arrangements. These are the gifts that sit on a reception counter rather than a desk.
Holder material options
Glass globes. Hanging or flat bottomed. The most photographed option and the one people put on social media.
Ceramic cradles. Solid, printable and the easiest to brand cleanly.
Wooden mounts. Driftwood or shaped mango wood. Natural and warm, engraves well.
Metal stands. Powder coated wire in geometric shapes. Modern and almost impossible to break in transit.
Bamboo fibre bases. The most sustainable choice and the lightest for very large orders.
Design variants
Design choices include minimal white, matte solid colours, geometric faceted forms, hand painted patterns, embossed textures and logo branded finishes. Glass holders carry branding as a frosted etch or a printed base plate rather than a direct print.
Bulk air plant gifting
Air plants are the category where large orders make the most sense. The unit weight is low, breakage risk on non glass holders is close to zero, and the plant itself needs no watering during transit.

A note on glass holders in bulk
Glass globes are the most attractive option and also the one that needs the most protective packing. For orders above 200 units going to individual home addresses we usually suggest ceramic or metal holders instead, simply because the delivered condition is more predictable. If you want glass at that scale we will do it, we just pack it differently and the freight cost rises.
Care that fits inside one card
Every air plant gift ships with a card explaining the routine. Soak in room temperature water for fifteen minutes once a week. Shake the plant upside down so no water sits trapped in the centre. Return it to bright indirect light. Skip a week if the office has been humid.
The one thing that kills air plants is water sitting in the crown, so the shake step is the sentence we print in bold.
[pgc_faq title=”Air Plant Gifts: frequently asked questions”]
[pgc_q q=”Do air plants really grow without any soil?” open=”1″]Yes. Tillandsia absorbs water and nutrients through tiny scales on its leaves rather than through roots. The roots it does have are only used to anchor the plant to a surface. This is why air plants sit in open holders instead of pots.[/pgc_q]
[pgc_q q=”How often does someone need to water an air plant gift?”]Soak it in room temperature water for about fifteen minutes once a week, then shake off the excess. In humid coastal cities you can stretch that to ten days. The care card in every box explains the routine in four lines.[/pgc_q]
[pgc_q q=”Are air plants suitable for an office with no natural light?”]They need some light, so a room with only ceiling lighting is not ideal. A desk within a couple of metres of a window works well. If your office is genuinely windowless, a snake plant or ZZ plant from our desk plants category is a safer choice.[/pgc_q]
[pgc_q q=”What holders can carry our company logo?”]Ceramic cradles, wooden mounts, metal stands and bamboo fibre bases all take direct printing or engraving. Glass globes carry branding as a frosted etch or on a printed base plate. All branding options start at 30 units.[/pgc_q]
[pgc_q q=”How well do air plants survive shipping?”]Very well. They need no water during transit and carry no soil to spill. The main packing concern is the holder rather than the plant, which is why glass globes get extra protection and metal or ceramic holders are our default suggestion for very large orders.[/pgc_q]
[pgc_q q=”Can air plants be gifted to employees who travel a lot?”]Yes, and this is one of the strongest use cases. An air plant can go two weeks between soakings without visible stress. A colleague returning from a long trip finds the plant exactly as they left it, which is not true of most potted plants.[/pgc_q]
[pgc_q q=”Do air plants flower?”]Most varieties bloom once in their life, usually with a bright pink or purple spike that lasts several weeks. Ionantha also blushes red as it approaches bloom. After flowering the plant produces offsets, called pups, which grow into new plants.[/pgc_q]
[pgc_q q=”What is the price range for air plant corporate gifts?”]Small ionantha in a simple holder sits at the affordable end, and a large xerographica in a branded wooden mount sits at the premium end. Share your quantity and budget per gift and we will send options at three price points to compare.[/pgc_q]
[pgc_q q=”Can you deliver air plant gifts to multiple cities on the same date?”]Yes. Send us a spreadsheet with addresses and we plan dispatch dates by city so that parcels land within the same window. For date sensitive gifting like Diwali or a launch event we build in two extra days of buffer for the furthest locations.[/pgc_q]
[pgc_q q=”What if the air plant arrives looking dry or grey?”]That is usually normal. Tillandsia looks silvery and slightly dry when it is thirsty and greens up within an hour of its first soak. Give it a fifteen minute soak on arrival. If it still looks unwell after that, send us a photo within 48 hours and we replace it.[/pgc_q]
